Aims
In its fifth round, the HU-BTU
International Conference on Heritage Conservation
and Site Management has chosen "Cultural
Heritage and Sustainable Development" as this year's
sub-theme. The aim is to research and discuss the
contribution of cultural heritage to social,
economic and environmental goals and linking this to
the sustainable development debate and the role that
tourism can play in this regard. This also goes in
line with the launch of a national track of the HCSM
master's program with a focus on "Heritage in
Conflict" addressing the current situation in the
Middle East and the need to properly document and
implement disaster & risk management plans for
war-damaged heritage sites. In this context,
cultural heritage could be an important tool to
promote sustainable development, contribute to
economic growth and act cohesively in post war-torn
societies.
